Inside Out Music (2012)
The fifth album from UK progressive rockers It Bites represents my first foray into their discography. Releasing three studio albums from 1986-1989, the band would bow out in 1991 following a live album release. 17 years later their reunion album “The Tall Ships” reignited the It Bites audience, and this 11 track, 52 minute record is one for those who love the softer side of progressive rock, where the guitar work isn’t as distorted and the keyboards provide a lush, fuller sound. Songs like “Wallflower” and the quieter ballad “Clocks” have much in common with Genesis (circa Peter Gabriel), while an up tempo offering like “Flag” hints at The Police with melodies in the vein of Sting.
Should go down a storm with the long standing UK progressive crowd- and gain a few outside the confines of the country as well.
