Next Life - "Artificial Divinity"

Fysisk Format (2011)

What do the original "Dawn of the Dead", "Akira" or "Ghost in the Shell" have in common? "Next Life" could provide an alternate, gorgeous soundtrack!

"Artificial Divinity" offers instrumental Death Metal with synthesizers reminiscent of 80's horror (or cyberpunk Japanese animation) and guitars played perfectly on time. Guitars and bass are indistinguishably fused together, creating a vicious staccato attack. They dance around the keyboards, which not only provide atmosphere but also leading melodies. The colors of sound seem to be at the exact opposite of the scale, yet still in the same palette. The outcome are harsh, atmospheric soundscapes inviting the listener to create his own images to the music.

The most obvious comparison that comes to mind is "Blotted Science", who also point out "Next Life"'s glaring weakness: solo/lead guitar work. If the guitar arrangements could match the synth (and the album was more than 20 minutes), this would get 6 Imhotep-heads, hands down.
